Russia is advancing a massive new gas pipeline project, Power of Siberia 2, to supply up to 50 billion cubic meters of gas annually to China. As Western sanctions tighten, Moscow is turning eastward, deepening energy ties with Beijing. The 598-mile pipeline will run through Mongolia and feature large 1.42-meter-wide pipes and five compressor stations. It builds on a 2014 deal and represents a major shift in Russia’s energy strategy—moving away from Europe and strengthening its partnership with the world's top-growing gas consumer.
