#CanadaSOLETFLaunch

Canada is indeed launching spot Solana ETFs with staking capabilities, beating the US to market access. According to Bloomberg senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas, four asset managers - Purpose, Evolve, CI, and 3iQ - have been greenlit by the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) to issue ETFs holding Solana. These ETFs will allow investors to stake a portion of their Solana holdings for added yield.

*Key Details:*

- *Launch Date*: The ETFs were initially expected to launch on April 16, 2025.

- *Staking Capability*: The ETFs will feature Solana staking, providing investors with potential additional returns.

- *Global Interest*: This move reflects growing global interest in spot crypto ETFs, with Canada leading the way.

*Comparison to US Market:*

- The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has acknowledged dozens of applications for ETFs holding alternative cryptocurrencies like Solana but has only approved funds holding spot Bitcoin and Ether.

- US crypto ETFs are currently not allowed to stake assets, although Ether ETFs might be permitted to start staking soon.

*Current Solana Market:*

- Solana's current price is $134.64, with a 1.60% decrease in the last 24 hours.

- The Solana futures ETF in the US, SOLZ, has seen a lukewarm reception with only around $5 million in net assets.
