#HederaHashgraph joins #Linux

This is posted on the Hedera website:

I am delighted to share that Hashgraph has joined the newly launched Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust as a founding member. This is not just paperwork; it is a powerful step towards a diverse and global community dedicated to advancing decentralized technologies through open-source collaboration. We are excited to strengthen our existing ties with the Linux Foundation and its diverse members, all working together to drive innovation and foster trust in decentralized systems.

In addition to our role as a Founding Member, today marks an exciting milestone for the Hedera ecosystem. Almost exactly five years after Hedera's open access, in a monumental move, Hedera has contributed all its source code, including the hashgraph consensus algorithm, core services, and essential tools, to the global open-source Linux Foundation. This contribution will be known as the "Hiero" project under LF Decentralized Trust.

This contribution underscores Hedera's commitment to open-source principles, ensuring that decentralized technologies are accessible, transparent, and secure for all. The Hiero project will leverage Hedera's hashgraph consensus algorithm to provide a robust decentralized platform, enabling seamless public network interactions for developers and businesses alike. This represents a significant step forward not only for the Hedera community but also for the future of decentralized infrastructure.

As I reflect on what this milestone means for the future of Hashgraph, I recall our commitment to the vision originally set forth by Leemon and Mance: "Shared Worlds." This vision, which inspired our recent rebranding, is of a perfectly interconnected value Internet where various DLT networks converge. All of this is driven by trust, which is crucial for the widespread adoption of decentralized systems.

By joining LF Decentralized Trust, we commit to collaborating with our fellow members to develop scalable solutions that enhance transparency and reliability. Looking ahead, we see tremendous potential in advancing interoperability, a key factor in the evolution of decentralized technologies. We are excited to participate in projects that will open new avenues, grow our community, and drive the future of open-source innovation.

We are shaping the trusted infrastructure of the future. Be part of the journey with us!
