Powell indicates that tariffs may pose a challenge for the Federal Reserve between controlling inflation and boosting growth.

● Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said on Wednesday that the central bank may find itself in a dilemma between controlling inflation and supporting economic growth.

● In a speech in Chicago, he said: "If that happens, we will consider how far the economy is from each target, and the different time horizons during which these gaps are expected to be closed."

Powell did not express any view on the direction of interest rates, but he indicated that "for now, we are in a good position to wait for more clarity before considering any adjustments to our monetary policy stance."
