Elon Musk Envisions $20 Billion Hyperloop Tunnel Linking New York and London
In a bold leap toward revolutionizing global travel, Elon Musk’s infrastructure venture, The Boring Company, has revealed early-stage plans for an ultra-high-speed transatlantic transit system. The concept centers around the implementation of Hyperloop technology—a futuristic transportation mode utilizing low-pressure tubes and electromagnetic propulsion—to connect New York City with London. The proposed journey time? Less than 60 minutes.
The transatlantic tunnel, spanning thousands of kilometers beneath the ocean, would use vacuum-sealed tubes to drastically reduce air resistance, paired with magnetic levitation (maglev) systems to propel pods at unprecedented speeds exceeding 3,000 miles per hour. This would mark a monumental leap from traditional air travel, which currently takes about eight hours between the two major cities.
