Bitwise Files for Spot NEAR ETF as Altcoin ETF Race Heats Up Learn more 👇🏼👇🏼 According to “DeFiPlanet” article Bitwise Files for Spot NEAR ETF in Latest Push for Altcoin Exposure May 6, 2025 – Washington, D.C. Bitwise Asset Management has officially filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to launch a spot NEAR Protocol (NEAR) exchange-traded fund (ETF), marking a strategic expansion of its growing crypto ETF lineup. The move was disclosed in a registration statement submitted to the SEC on May 6, 2025, and comes amid an accelerating race among asset managers to secure regulatory approval for altcoin-based spot ETFs. The proposed Bitwise NEAR ETF is designed to track the market price of NEAR, the native token of the Near blockchain, excluding management fees. Though the fund’s ticker symbol, fee structure, and intended exchange listing have yet to be disclosed, the filing lists Coinbase Custody as the prospective custodian of the fund’s assets. To advance its application, Bitwise must submit a Form 19b-4, which formally initiates the SEC’s rulemaking and approval process. Bitwise indicated plans to file this form soon, after registering a statutory trust for the NEAR ETF in Delaware on April 28, 2025.$XRP #RippleSECSettlement

The letter formally requests an indicative ruling from the court regarding its willingness to dissolve a previous injunction. The Second Circuit had already paused the appeal to allow both parties to finalize the deal. Once the case is remanded back to the district court, it will be able to formally approve the settlement. At that point, Ripple and the SEC will be allowed to voluntarily withdraw their respective appeals, officially closing the case.
