Adam Back, one of the pioneers of the cypherpunk movement and CEO of Blockstream, has dropped a bombshell: quantum computing could jeopardize the security of Bitcoin. Yes, the same Bitcoin that is marketed as "impossible to hack" and the safest way to store value in the digital age.
According to Back, if quantum computing reaches sufficiently advanced levels, it could break the cryptographic algorithms that protect users' private keys. What does this mean? That your precious BTC could be vulnerable... and sooner than you think.
But while some experts urge calm and argue that we are still far from that threat, others believe that ignoring this possibility is simply irresponsible.
Is Bitcoin really prepared for a quantum world? Or are we worshipping a technological sandcastle?
Speak your mind: paranoia or legitimate warning?
The debate is on.
