What is Autonomys Network?
Autonomys Network is a blockchain project that aims to redefine AI and human collaboration by establishing an AI-augmented world that enhances human autonomy rather than diminishing it. Users can join the network by providing SSD for storage data and get incentivized by doing it. The Subspace Protocol
Subspace Protocol is the novel technology of Autonomys Network it enables "storage-based consensus protocol that separates transaction ordering from execution." The protocol also made to create a open and inclusive Internet for all users. This is made possible by:
Providing an alternative to PoW (Proof of Work) for all mass user to participate. It's eco-friendly and energy efficient.
Prompting and maintaining long term decentralization by creating an incentive compatible permissionless network.
Create scalable network storage and compute capacity based and proportionate to all node operators while maintaining decentralization and security.
Connecting and enabling interoperability between existing networks.
To stick with Nakamoto's vision the Subspace Protocol uses the longest chain of PoC (Proof of Capacity) consensus mechanism based on SSD (Solid State Drive) storage. Permissionless, secure and safe. It follows the same way as Ethereum model of blockchain.
Subspace also aims to solve the farmers dilemma where "rational farmers are incentivized to allocate all their available storage towards consensus, neglecting the maintenance of chain state and history". This dilemma causes network degradation, as well as security and decentralization. Risk of abuses, propagate malicious activities, centralizing control and raise cost for verification. To prevent this Subspace aims to:
"To prevent farmers from discarding chain history: we construct a novel PoC consensus protocol, based on proofs of storage of the blockchain’s history (Proof-ofArchival-Storage), where each farmer stores as many provably unique partial replicas of the chain history as their disk space allows.
To ensure consensus retains the fairness of one-diskone-vote: we make the plotting process more computationally intensive than Hellman’s time-memory tradeoff, meaning that augmenting or replacing storage with computation is economically irrational for farmers.
To ensure chain history remains available: farmers form a decentralized storage network, which allows chain history to remain fully recoverable, load-balanced, and efficiently retrievable.
To relieve farmers of the burden of maintaining the whole state and performing redundant computation: we apply the classic distributed-systems technique of decoupling consensus and computation. Farmers are then solely responsible for ordering transactions, while a separate class of operator nodes maintains the state and computes the state transitions for each new block.
To ensure operators (executors) remain accountable for their actions: we employ a system of staked deposits, verifiable computation, and non-interactive fraud proofs"
