Metaplanet becomes the tenth largest public holder of bitcoin after new BTC purchase

BTC performance remains a key metric, with a yield of 95.6% in the first quarter of 2025 and 6.5% so far in the second quarter, reflecting strong growth in digital assets.
Metaplanet Inc. (3350) added 319 bitcoin (BTC) to its treasury. The Japanese firm made its latest purchase at an average price of US$ 83,147 per coin.
This acquisition raises the company's total bitcoin holdings to 4,525 BTC, with an aggregated cost basis of US$ 408.1 million and an average acquisition price of US$ 90,194.
The move is part of Metaplanet's broader bitcoin treasury operations strategy, launched in December 2024, aimed at using digital assets to enhance shareholder value.
The company assesses its performance through BTC yield, a metric that measures the growth of bitcoin holdings relative to shares outstanding. In the first quarter of 2025, its BTC yield reached 95.6%, with a cumulative figure for the year of 6.5% as of April 14.
