The latest upgrade plan for Ethereum is the Pectra upgrade, which will go live on May 7, 2025. This upgrade combines the Prague and Electra upgrades, aiming to optimize network performance and user experience.
The Pectra upgrade includes 11 Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs), including EIP-7251, which raises the staking limit for validators from 32 ETH to 2048 ETH, enabling validators to manage their staking operations more efficiently. Additionally, Pectra introduces Account Abstraction features, allowing users to pay Gas fees with stablecoins and supporting more flexible transaction types.
The goal of this upgrade is to enhance the scalability, security, and usability of the Ethereum network, while reducing transaction costs and increasing transaction throughput, making the network more efficient.
