Trump reinstates tariffs on Chinese electronics
US President Donald Trump announced that the temporary exemptions on imports of electronics from China, such as phones and computers, will not last long. Despite the announcement of a temporary halt to the high tariffs, Trump confirmed that these products are still subject to a 20% tariff and may face additional tariffs soon.
This step is part of a plan to reduce dependence on China and boost domestic manufacturing, especially in the semiconductor sector. These decisions have caused disruptions in global markets, and shares of major technology companies have declined. For its part, China responded with retaliatory tariffs, increasing trade tensions between the two countries.
