The United States has implemented tariff updates on electronics and other goods from various countries. Here’s what you need to know ¹:

Tariff Updates

- *China and Hong Kong*: Additional tariff of 20% on goods, increased by 10% on March 4, 2025

- *Canada and Mexico*: Additional tariff of 25% on goods that do not meet USMCA origin rules

- *Energy products from Canada*: Tariff of 10% on imports that do not qualify for USMCA preference

- *Potash from Canada and Mexico*: Tariff of 10% on imports that do not qualify for USMCA preference

USMCA Preference

- Goods from Canada and Mexico that qualify for USMCA preference are exempt from additional tariffs, effective March 7, 2025

- The rules governing USMCA preference remain unchanged, found in 19 CFR 182

Implementation

- Tariff updates are implemented on the effective dates, with no retroactive application

- U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) communicates updates via the Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) notices
