Apple Accelerates iPhone Shipments from India to Avoid Trump Tariffs
Apple transported five planes loaded with iPhones and other products from India to the United States in late March to avoid new 10% tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, which began on April 5. The preemptive shipments aim to temporarily maintain current prices, as the imported inventory covers low-cost demand for the coming months. Apple currently does not plan to raise prices but is assessing the impact of tariffs on supply chains. With additional tariffs of 26% starting on April 9, Apple is moving to bolster manufacturing in India as a safer alternative to China, enhancing India's importance in its global production network.
