China Slams U.S. Over 104% Tariff Hike, Vows to Defend National Interests
China has issued a strong condemnation of the United States' decision to impose 104% tariffs on Chinese imports, calling the move a clear act of economic aggression. A spokesperson from China’s Foreign Ministry declared that Beijing will "stand firm" in safeguarding its sovereignty and right to development.
“We reject intimidation, coercion, and blackmail,” the spokesperson stated. “The Chinese people seek peace but will not retreat in the face of provocation. No force will be allowed to harm China’s core interests—be it sovereignty, security, or development.”
The statement called on the U.S. to show genuine intent for dialogue, based on mutual respect and shared benefit. “If Washington chooses to escalate this trade war, ignoring the costs to itself, China, and the world, then China will fight back—decisively and to the end,” the spokesperson warned.
The sharp response came as the U.S. enacted sweeping tariff increases affecting China and several other nations. Here's a breakdown of the newly imposed tariffs on key countries:
Nicaragua, Zimbabwe: 18%
Israel, Malawi, Philippines, Zambia: 17%
Mozambique: 16%
Norway, Venezuela: 15%
