Trading psychology is the core element of investment success or failure, essentially managing the weaknesses of human nature. Market fluctuations amplify greed and fear, leading to irrational decisions: taking profits too early when in the green, and stubbornly holding onto losses with revenge trading when in the red. Successful traders need to establish a framework of discipline—set clear trading plans, strictly implement stop-loss and take-profit strategies, and avoid emotional trading. They must also recognize the need for correction: accepting the unpredictability of the market, being wary of confirmation bias and overtrading, and viewing gains and losses through a probabilistic lens. In the long run, stable emotional control is more important than predicting market trends; it allows the trading system to continue functioning effectively during fluctuations.
