🚨Big Red Racing Stable Update
Nymeria 🏇
Following her last race, Matt observed that Nymeria didn’t quite display her usual competitive spark. She lacked the drive we’ve come to expect, particularly in the final stretch.
Post-race diagnostics conducted by Travis and the team revealed that she had experienced internal bleeding during the race. A veterinary assessment confirmed her lung capacity had dropped to just 25% at peak exertion. Despite the setback, our queen gave it her all, which speaks volumes about her heart and determination.
The good news: her lungs have since been cleared, and the team is evaluating whether she’ll benefit from being placed on Lasix going forward. She's already on the mend, with an estimated recovery window of two weeks. Given her condition, we've made the decision to skip the John Brennan series at Yonkers - there’s no reason to push her against the boys at less than full strength.
Nymeria is under close monitoring to prevent any recurrence, and we're confident she’ll be back at 100% for her next start in 2–3 weeks. Credit to the team for trusting their instincts - she truly gave everything she had out there.
Stay tuned for more updates.
