Grayscale Investments has filed a Form S-1 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to convert its existing Grayscale Solana Trust into a spot Solana Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF). This move aims to list the ETF on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker symbol "GSOL," providing investors with exposure to Solana ($SOL ) without directly holding the cryptocurrency.

In this filing, Grayscale has opted to exclude a staking feature that would have allowed the fund to earn additional $SOL rewards by participating in the network's proof-of-stake mechanism. This decision aligns with Grayscale's approach in other crypto-based ETFs, focusing on simplifying the regulatory approval process.

This initiative is part of Grayscale's broader strategy to expand its cryptocurrency offerings and follows a 19b-4 application submitted in December 2024 to facilitate the trust's conversion into an ETF. The SEC's decision on this application is pending.

The introduction of a Solana ETF could enhance the cryptocurrency's visibility and accessibility for investors, reflecting Grayscale's commitment to broadening its digital asset portfolio.
