The U.S. SEC has officially launched the Crypto 2.0 Task Force in January 2025, signaling a major shift in crypto regulation. Led by Commissioner Hester Peirce, this task force aims to create clear, practical frameworks for digital asset registration, disclosure, and compliance — moving beyond enforcement to proactive collaboration with the industry.
The SEC is also focusing on regulating off-chain and OTC crypto transactions and has proposed forming a Presidential Cryptocurrency Working Group for unified oversight.
