With last week’s Federal Reserve meeting seen as largely bullish for markets, QT will be decreasing from 25B to 5B per month starting in April, and the Fed still expects two 25 basis point rate cuts in 2025. As a result, markets are currently largely pricing in a pause at the Fed’s May meeting.

Looking ahead, next week’s most important economic data points will be the Core PCE reports.

A softer-than-expected print for the Core PCE would suggest cooling inflation, a bullish signal for markets that could strengthen hopes for monetary easing. Conversely, a hotter reading would likely be viewed as bearish, reinforcing expectations that the Fed will stick to a tighter monetary policy stance.
