Pakistan's Cryptocurrency Council Proposes Using Surplus Energy for Bitcoin Mining
According to PANews, Bilal Bin Saqib, CEO of Pakistan's Cryptocurrency Council, has proposed utilizing the country's surplus energy resources to power Bitcoin mining operations. This proposal was discussed during the council's inaugural meeting on March 21. The establishment of the Cryptocurrency Council marks a significant shift from the Pakistani government's previous stance on cryptocurrencies. In May 2023, former Minister of State for Finance and Revenue, Aisha Ghaus Pasha, stated that cryptocurrencies would never be legalized in the country.
In related developments, Pakistan is planning to create a legal framework for cryptocurrency trading to attract international investment.
