Thoughts on the Current Layout of ROAM
I've been tracking Roam for quite a while, and the recent market conditions haven't been great. Is $ROAM really worth investing in?
To be honest, it depends on how you play. After carefully considering the mechanism, I think it's possible to pick up some bargains in batches right now.
1. Let's talk about short-term arbitrage first. Roam's reverse burning mechanism is quite interesting; you convert tokens into points and then burn points to get more tokens back. Sounds like "infinite money printing," right?
But in reality, 97% of the tokens will be permanently destroyed, and the remainder is locked in the ecosystem for development, not flowing into the market.
The conversion efficiency of the sticker pool is significantly higher than that of regular pools, but stickers can only be accumulated by checking in daily. If you don't have any stock on hand, you can't really participate, which tightly controls selling pressure.
2. In the long run, dual deflation is the real ace up the sleeve. Points that are burned are gone for good, and the total token supply is capped at 1 billion. Each round of burning accelerates deflation.
This gameplay of Roam is clearly more resistant to downturns. Moreover, the staking and lock-up rewards are substantial, and locking can leverage global traffic, providing real value support.
3. Now, let's talk about the fundamentals. Roam is working on decentralized wireless networks, with 3 million users globally accessing the internet through their nodes. Recently, they've also tapped into the AI data layer, which could be a big business for feeding data to AI training in the future.
4. As for operations, my advice is not to just hoard tokens. Target the burning pool during low conversion rate periods for a surge, and separate staking into regular pools and miner pools; if you have equipment, go for the higher yield option.
In summary, the Roam project is one of "attack when possible, defend when necessary"—short-term arbitrage can earn you some returns, while long-term deflation can yield substantial gains. When the wind comes, DePIN + AI might just catch a big wave.
