📢Thailand Seizes 63 Illegal Cryptocurrency Mining Rigs
The Thai government has just dismantled a large electricity theft operation in Pathum Thani, seizing 63 cryptocurrency mining rigs worth $60,000, causing more than $327,000 in damage to the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA).
The raid was carried out by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) after detecting unusual power outages. Authorities raided three abandoned houses and discovered remote-controlled mining operations, with no one arrested on site. The CIB also seized laptops, routers, tampered electric meters, and bank books to trace the perpetrator behind the operation.
This is not the first incident, as many illegal cryptocurrency mining farms have been dismantled recently. The Thai government is committed to taking stronger action to prevent this situation, due to the risks of economic damage and fire hazards.
