French President Macron Calls for European Unity in Facing International Challenges
French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized in a recent television address that France will take on the important responsibility of leading the free world, vowing to resolutely combat Russia's 'ubiquitous' aggression. Macron pointed out the complexity of the current international situation and its profound impact on Europe, urgently requiring strong leadership.
"I had hoped that the United States would stand with us, but that is not the reality. Therefore, we must be prepared to respond independently," Macron stated clearly in his speech. Macron also mentioned that France will consider expanding its nuclear deterrent capabilities to protect the security of European countries. He emphasized, "France's nuclear deterrent is complete, sovereign, and independent. However, in response to the future German Chancellor's call, I have decided to initiate a strategic debate on how to protect European allies through nuclear deterrence." He further noted that Europe's future should not be determined by Washington or Moscow, and threats from the East are resurfacing. The peace and stability that have existed since the fall of the Berlin Wall are no longer present.
