Sam Spratt announces Luci: Episode 6

Digital artist Sam Spratt, known for his narrative-driven “Luci” series, has released the latest installment, Chapter 6 titled “X.Masquerade,” building on the evolving Luci storyline first released in October 2021.

Since its debut, collectors known as “Players” have watched and shaped Luci’s destiny, interacting with Spratt’s world through digital paintings, written poetry, and community-driven decisions.

Spratt wrote in X that the sixth chapter was inspired by the birth of his daughter, “I started the book from her first ultrasound,” he said, “that was the first time we heard her heartbeat.”

The lottery event is divided into five stages: on February 4, players received an invitation to participate and the event officially began. On February 18, the public lottery began. On February 21, the party will revolve around the themes of creation, destruction and balance. On March 4, the Luci Council will hold a meeting for discussion, and finally the finalists will be announced on March 10.

Christie's holds first AI-powered art auction

Christie’s opened bidding on Feb. 20 for “Augmented Intelligence,” the first major auction devoted entirely to AI-generated art.

The sale includes more than 20 works spanning five decades, including pieces by early pioneers such as British-born computer programmer Harold Cohen, as well as contemporary AI creators such as data visualist Refik Anadol, AI collaborative artist Claire Silver, and composer Holly Herndon.

Only a quarter of the auction was digitally native, with the rest consisting of physical works such as paintings, sculptures and prints.

Throughout the auction, a 12-foot-tall acrylic painting by artist and engineer Alexander Reben will be painted live by a robot, with new sections added to the canvas with each bid. Bidding ends on March 5, and most lots will be available for purchase with cryptocurrency.
