About Algorand
Algorand is a scalable, secure, and decentralized smart contracts and digital currency platform. Its protocol uses a variant of Proof-of-Stake (PoS) called Pure PoS (PPoS) to secure the network and achieve consensus on block production. Developers can create decentralized applications (dApps) using familiar programming languages, including Python, which Algorand supports natively.
Algorand was developed by a team with a strong foundation in academic theory and science, led by Turing Award winner Silvio Micali, who dedicated his career to pioneering research in the field of cryptocurrencies.
