#EthereumRollbackDebate #BybitSecurityBr
šØ How it's going: Rewind the Blockchain or Face the Consequences? šØ
Imagine going to sleep peacefully after a long day! In the morning?āwaking up and realizing $1.5 BILLION in Ethereum $ETH (Ethereum) just vanishedāpoof! Thatās exactly what happened on February 21, 2025, when hackers (allegedly North Koreaās Lazarus Group) pulled off one of the biggest crypto heists ever, targeting the #Bybit exchange.
š„ Now, Hereās Where Things Get WILD. š„
Arthur Hayes (BitMEX co-founder) threw a grenade into the crypto world by suggesting rolling back the Ethereum blockchain to undo the hackābasically, rewinding time like a Marvel multiverse reset, going back to the state before the hack! If that sounds crazy, it's because it is.
š #Ethereum DEVs Clapped Back HARD.š
Ethereum devs and core team members are already opposed to Arthur Hayes's Multiverse reset. Also, Tim Beiko, one of Ethereumās core developers, called the idea ātechnically intractableā (translation: āBro, that aināt happeningā). Why? Because Ethereum isnāt what it was in 2016 during the infamous DAO hack rollbackāitās a global financial ecosystem NOW with millions of people's billions of assets from all over the world, as well as, complex than ever before! Reversing the chain would have extensive and seriously BAD consequences, including break DeFi apps, cancel thousands of legit transactions, and shake our trust in crypto forever!!
š„ So, What Now? š„
The consensus? No do-overs. Instead of rewinding, the community is pushing for better security, smarter contracts, and stronger defenses. The message is clear: If your vault isnāt locked tight, donāt expect Ethereum to be your time machine.
š What do YOU think?
Should Ethereum bend the rules for stolen billions, or is decentralization sacred?
