**Exchange "Hacked", What Should Crypto Investors Do?**

Exchanges being hacked is one of the things that often happens in the crypto ecosystem which cannot be avoided no matter how good their cybersecurity is, Exchanges are only a place for transactions, not for storing crypto assets. So, what should be done if the phenomenon of an exchange being hacked occurs?

**#1 Consider Withdrawing Funds.**

When an exchange is hacked, many users tend to withdraw their funds from the exchange. This is very natural because they feel incredible panic over the assets they have. Many of them end up moving to other exchanges that are considered safer.

**#2 Learn How to Self Custody.**

Not your keys, not your coins. Since the beginning, we have always recommended doing self custody or storing our own crypto assets. By doing self custody, we really own the crypto assets. We also teach how to self custody for Crypto Academy members.

**#3 Only Keep Small Amounts on Exchanges.**

The hacked exchanges show that we should only keep small amounts on exchanges. A maximum of 30% of all crypto assets we have, while the other 70% we keep in a cold wallet.

**#4 Use Many Exchanges.**

Always use a large number of tier 1 exchanges to "diversify risk", don't let us "get burned" again because an exchange exploded. By using many exchanges we limit our exposure to only one exchange because in the end: "no one knows".
