💡 Strategy with the $ETH coin (Ethereum) – The impact of the biggest hack in history

Yesterday, the crypto market was rocked by one of the largest attacks in history. The Bybit exchange suffered a massive hack, resulting in the loss of approximately $1.4 billion, most of it in Ethereum (ETH).

🔹 This type of incident reignites debates about the vulnerability of centralized exchanges.

💡 Why doesn't this directly affect Ethereum?

1️⃣ The Ethereum blockchain has not been compromised.

The attack took place on Bybit's infrastructure, which failed to secure its own assets.

2️⃣ Ethereum remains secure.

Its Proof of Stake (PoS) validation model and improvements such as EIP-1559 and future Ethereum 2.0 updates reinforce its security and efficiency.

🔹 Brief History of Ethereum

✅ Officially launched in July 2015

• Built to enable smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps).

✅ Binance Listing: 2017

✅ Switching to Proof of Stake (PoS):

• In 2022, with The Merge, the Ethereum network abandoned the Proof of Work (PoW) model, drastically reducing energy consumption and improving its efficiency.

🔹 Token Supply and Distribution

✅ Unlimited Emission:

• Ethereum does not have a predefined maximum supply.

✅ Token Burn (EIP-1559):

• Since 2021, part of the transaction fees are burned, making Ethereum potentially deflationary.

✅ Current Distribution:

• Approximately 120 million ETH in circulation.

🔹 MY Ethereum Strategy

✔️ Average purchase price: $2,865.14

✔️ Average selling price: $3,408.53

✔️ Operations History:

• I made staggered sales during Ethereum’s bullish peaks.

• Despite still keeping around 9% of my portfolio allocated in ETH, I did not buy back after the sales, as I see difficulties in sustaining the recent highs.

📌 Last significant increase:

In January 2025, ETH reached close to $4,000 but quickly retreated, reinforcing its volatility.

🔹 Positive and Negative Points of ETH

✅ Positive Points:

✔️ Leadership in smart contracts and dApps.

✔️ Robust ecosystem, supported by large companies.

✔️ Constant updates strengthen the infrastructure.

✔️ High liquidity and global adoption.

❌ Negative Points:

⚠️ Strong competition from blockchains like Solana, Avalanche and Cardano.

⚠️ High transaction fees

🔹 MY Conclusion

Ethereum remains one of the most solid assets on the market, with a strong and well-established ecosystem. However, incidents like the Bybit hack highlight the operational risks of the crypto sector, not the Ethereum blockchain itself.

MY strategy is to continue monitoring ETH before making new purchases, waiting for a more favorable scenario

💬 Question of the Day:

👉 Do you believe Ethereum will continue to dominate the smart contract industry or will it be overtaken by blockchains like Solana and Avalanche?
