LayerEdge Testnet: A Major Leap Toward Trust-Minimized Settlement on Bitcoin
On January 22nd, we launched the LayerEdge Testnet, marking a significant milestone in our journey toward decentralized, trust-minimized verification on Bitcoin. The response from the community has been overwhelming, reinforcing the growing demand for a more secure, efficient, and transparent settlement layer.
LayerEdge Testnet: Phased Rollout
The LayerEdge Testnet is being deployed in two phases, ensuring a structured and efficient rollout:
-> Closed Testnet (January 22 — Ongoing)
• Early access to browser-based light nodes
• Stress-testing the system with community participation
-> Public Beta Testnet (Coming Soon)
• Full-scale launch with both browser-based and system-based light nodes
How Do LayerEdge Light Nodes Work?
LayerEdge enables users to run light nodes that verify leaf-level proofs through stochastic sampling, significantly reducing computational overhead before settling proofs on Bitcoin Signet.
Participants can:
1. Run light nodes to support decentralized verification
2. Test the aggregation and settlement module
3. Earn Edge Points as rewards for contributions
