As of today, February 21, 2025, the Pi Network has officially launched its Open Network phase. The transition to the Open Network occurred at 8:00 AM UTC on February 20, 2025, marking a significant milestone for the project. This update enables external connectivity on the Pi Mainnet blockchain, allowing Pi to interface with other compliant networks and systems. Pioneers can now engage in transactions beyond the Pi ecosystem, connect with KYB-verified businesses, and access integrations with centralized exchanges like OKX, Bitget, and others that have confirmed listings for Pi Coin trading. The launch follows years of development, with over 19 million identity-verified Pioneers and more than 10.14 million having migrated to the Mainnet, exceeding the original goal of 10 million migrations. This phase builds on the Enclosed Network period, which began in December 2021, and introduces real-world utility through over 80 community-created applications and enhanced blockchain features like faster transaction speeds (up to 1.19 million transactions per second with Protocol v19). The Pi Coin price has seen significant movement post-launch, initially surging from $1.50 to over $2 within minutes, though it has experienced volatility, with some reports noting a climb to $90+ and others indicating a drop to around $33 after hitting $100 earlier. The exact price remains subject to market dynamics as trading begins on major exchanges.
