Hello friends and pioneers of the open network Pi.

The Open Network is live! This means that external connectivity to the Pi Network is now available to the Pi community worldwide. The Open Network has opened the door to Pi’s thriving ecosystem, innovative applications, and comprehensive peer-to-peer network to integrate with the wider blockchain world. The Open Network has been central to Pi’s mission — to create an inclusive, utility-driven cryptocurrency that is widely adopted and accessible to anyone.

As discussed in the Pi Network Open Network History announcement, today’s launch marks an important milestone in connecting the Pi Network — and the pioneers who have collectively pushed Pi forward over the past six years — to the wider world.

With external connectivity enabled, Pioneers are allowed to leverage Pi’s ecosystem and utility-powered applications to interact with other compatible networks and systems. Pioneers are also able to participate in transactions outside of the Pi ecosystem, extending the reach and scope of Pi’s existing utilities.

Additionally, a list of KYB verified companies is available for Pioneers to view and access on the following webpage which helps Pioneers identify companies that have completed Pi Network’s KYB review process. Not listed? Companies can apply for KYB verification here.

Open Network also provides support for integration with centralized exchanges (CEXs) and corridors to provide additional means of obtaining Pi for use in the Pi ecosystem, more third-party services, Node updates, and more!

Are you excited? You should be! Watch this video from Pi co-founder Chengdiao Fan, and read on for more information on Open Network opportunities and the releases available now. Also, get ready to participate in the upcoming Open Network Challenge next week in the Pi mining app to learn and explore what Open Network has to offer firsthand.

Securely connect your Pi to external systems

Centralized Exchange (CEX) Integration

Pioneers can now connect their Pi for use with external systems and networks. Centralized exchanges (CEXs) and launch points have been integrated with the Pi Network after passing KYB. KYB-certified third-party services make it easier for Pioneers to connect to the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem and fiat world, and vice versa. Please refrain from using any third-party services including CEXs that claim to be integrated with Pi but are not listed on the KYB services webpage. By doing so, you risk being scammed or defrauded. Read the “Business Compliance Requirements” section below for more information.

Business Compliance Requirements

In an effort to maintain a safe and compliant ecosystem, participation in blockchain activities on the mainnet will require KYC (Know Your Customer) verification for Pioneers, and KYB (Know Your Business) verification for businesses. This requirement applies to businesses (not individuals) seeking access to the Pi mainnet, mainnet nodes, or other mainnet-related services, as well as those providing essential infrastructure such as on/off ramps, exchanges, bridges, and Web3 wallet solutions. Our KYB process is intended to maintain regulatory compliance and the security of our ecosystem. Pi strives to be a safe Web3 space where Pioneers can leverage external connections, through which they can use their Pi – interacting with KYB-certified businesses and partners who interact with real KYC-certified Pioneers, and vice versa.

Only KYB-certified businesses will be eligible to create non-custodial Pi main wallets that enable them to transact within the Pi ecosystem. This extra layer of verification reduces the risk of unauthorized activity and helps build trust among pioneers. Any legitimate, genuine business will have no problem passing KYB.

Companies looking to integrate with Pi and complement KYB can do so here. By implementing these standards, Pi Network is enhancing the security, legitimacy, and longevity of the ecosystem, creating a reliable foundation for future integrations with reputable companies.

Visit this page for a complete list of all companies that have completed KYB. Be extremely cautious about making Pi transactions with any company that is not listed on this page. Due to KYB’s requirement to access Pi Mainnet wallets, there may be companies that claim to be able to facilitate Pi-related business when they do not actually have a Pi Mainnet wallet. Please refrain from doing business with such companies to avoid potential scams.

Node release

With Open Network, the firewall that existed during Enclosed Network has been removed. Now, anyone can technically add nodes to the Mainnet blockchain, both in terms of running the protocol and connecting to the network. With strong historical contributions and trust scores initially favored, pioneers will gradually be invited to migrate their nodes from Testnet to Mainnet via the desktop node UI. Node rank data will be published soon.

Node 0.5.1 was recently released to the Pi community. This update:

Allowed users with Blockchain API enabled to transfer data after the protocol upgrade through a new simple UI button;

A consistent public key is generated for all nodes in preparation for public node rating publications; and

Node performance has been improved, reducing CPU stress and ensuring smoother operations for node operators.

Next week: Learn more and explore Open Network with an in-app challenge.

Next week, in celebration of Open Network, and in support of the facilities and capabilities now available, Pioneers can participate in a new Open Network Challenge that will allow them to learn more about Open Network and explore the ecosystem. This will be an interactive way to explore the different components of the Pi ecosystem and contribute to using its various facilities, unlocking fun rewards in the process!

In this Open Network Challenge, you will complete 12 actions that guide you through new content released today, help you complete important individual steps like reminding your teams about KYC and moving to Mainnet, and celebrate through Pi’s various social media apps like Pi Chats and Fireside Forum.
