China has formally challenged the Trump administration’s 10% tariffs on Chinese imports by filing a dispute with the World Trade Organization (WTO).
In addition, the US’s decision to remove tariff exemptions for low-value packages (under $800) has raised concerns among shippers and e-commerce companies such as Shein and Temu.
US customs officials have warned that packages without proper documentation could be turned away, adding uncertainty to the global supply chain. The lawsuit could potentially result in a WTO ruling against the US tariffs, as happened in a similar case in 2020. The trade move could worsen tensions between the US and China, with far-reaching implications for the logistics and e-commerce sectors.
