‼️‼️‼️ Bitcoin ransomware revenue drops from $1.25 billion to $813 million📉

In 2024, ransomware operators generated $813 million in revenue, down 35% from the previous year’s $1.25 billion, according to a Chainalysis report.

The amount of stolen funds in the first half of the year increased by 2.4% compared to 2023, including $75 million paid to the Dark Angels group. However, a sharp decrease in ransom payments in the second half of the year led to a decrease in the total amount.

According to Chainalysis analysts, it has become more difficult for hackers to launder illegal proceeds due to sanctions against the Russian exchange Cryptex and the seizure by German authorities of the servers of 47 Russian-language crypto exchanges without KYC.

Another positive trend, experts called the widening gap between the payments required by the attackers and the amounts sent to them.

“Victims who paid the extortionists typically sent between $150,000 and $250,000 in ransom, regardless of the initial demands,” the report said.#criptonews $BTC $ETH $BNB
