‼️Media: Durov's case will not go to court before 2026
The case of Telegram founder Pavel Durov in France will not be brought to court for a year or more. Wired writes this with reference to the local prosecutor's office.
According to the press secretary of the department, Meilis de Reck, it is still too early to discuss any settlement agreement between the authorities and the businessman.
The messenger attracted the attention of law enforcement agencies when, in the winter of 2024, it refused to disclose the identity of one of its users suspected of sexual abuse of children. In March, France issued an arrest warrant for Durov and his brother Nikolai.
Later, a specialized French cybercrime unit, known as J3, joined the Telegram case.
After changing the messenger's internal policy on information disclosure, the authorities of several countries noted a positive shift in cooperation with the platform. According to law enforcement, Telegram's metadata requests help in numerous investigations, especially in the field of drug trafficking.
