‼️Ripple explains reasons for XRP Ledger outage
On February 4, the XRP Ledger network resumed operations after more than an hour of outage, Ripple CTO David Schwartz confirmed.
Activity froze at block 93,927,174. The blockchain rebooted after 64 minutes.
Validator operators had to manually intervene to “choose a reasonable starting point” to achieve sufficient consensus and a coordinated flow of ledgers, he added.
According to him, all conclusions are “very preliminary,” and developers are continuing to investigate.
Ripple emphasized that the security of users’ funds was not affected by the incident.
XRPL CEO Daniel Keller reported at the beginning of the outage that all “35 nodes continue to bid.” The quorum threshold is 80% — 28 nodes.
Users in the comments recalled one of the aspects of constant criticism of the Ripple blockchain in the community - centralization. For example, Ethereum is supported by more than 1 million validators.
Against the backdrop of the network shutdown, the price of the XRP token fell to $2.45. Following the quotes, they recovered to around $2.5. As a result, the coin's rate has practically not changed over the past day.
