Most Chinese people are like this, deeply ingrained in their genes, because thousands of years of history are filled with massacres and deception. Indifference belongs to the weak for self-preservation. Even domestically, who dares to help someone who has fallen, unless it's recorded on video. Moreover, the surveillance environment in the U.S. is not as extensive as at home, making it hard to defend oneself; being a good person is truly difficult.

In the United States, many Chinese people are very cold-blooded, lacking personal warmth. Everything revolves around money, and there are very few Chinese who are genuinely willing to help others. If you ask them a question, they often want to charge a fee. Living like this feels very meaningless; survival is stressful, but there should be warmth between people. In contrast, the white people I encountered in the U.S. were very friendly. If you can't find something in the supermarket and ask someone for help, they will happily push their cart and walk you a few aisles to find what you need, and even tell you which type is better. The quality of interactions between people truly varies! Social relations in China may work, but they don't in the U.S.; most people are indifferent. However, I still believe that one should strive to be a warm person. You influence others, and in turn, they will influence you.
