Donald Trump Fulfills Promise to Crypto Community, Bans CBDC: What It Means
US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order banning the creation and issuance of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) in the United States of America. In the run-up to his presidential campaign, Trump has stated on multiple occasions that banning CBDC would be one of his agendas after taking office. This is Trump’s first major move related to bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in his second term. According to the order, CBDC has been defined as “a form of digital money or monetary value, denominated in the national unit of account, that is a direct obligation of the central bank.”
