Getting into crypto and NFTs can be exciting, but it’s also a minefield of scams and traps. The good news? Creating a wallet is easy. The real challenge is protecting your money and not falling for scammers. I’m saying this because I just got scammed and made every mistake possible trying to fix it, while the gang manipulated me into losing everything. And that’s also why I’m offering my NFTs directly now, because I want to create a network of trust so that we can strengthen the market for real NFT artists. Here are the key points to survive:
1. Don't Lose Your Calm
When something goes wrong, the first thing to do is to stay calm. Scammers take advantage of desperation. They will use tactics to pressure you into making quick decisions. Take a deep breath and think before you act.
2. Never Share Your Seed Key
The seed key is the only thing that grants access to your wallet. Sharing it is like giving your bank password to a stranger. It doesn't matter who is asking for it: tech support, a "business partner", or an online "friend". Don't share it.
3. Avoid Staying on Call on Discord
Scammers love to use Discord. They’ll try to trick you into joining a call and create a false sense of security. During these conversations, they can manipulate you into making mistakes. If someone invites you to a call — especially to “solve” a problem — be suspicious.
4. Don't Share Your Screen
Sharing your screen may seem harmless, but this is how many scammers get their hands on sensitive information. They can see your seed key, transactions, or details that should be private. Protect your privacy at all costs.
5. Check Everything Before Signing
When connecting your wallet to any website or app, carefully read what is being asked. Scams often happen because people click “Accept” without reading. If something seems suspicious, trust your instincts and don’t proceed.
6. Use Monitoring Tools
The blockchain is public. Use this to your advantage. There are tools that help you monitor your transactions and alert you to suspicious activity. Always be vigilant.
7. Always Educate Yourself
The crypto world changes fast. The more you learn, the safer you will be. Join trusted communities, read about security, and stay up to date with the latest news. Talking to OpenSea support was what revealed to me that my account had been scammed. Until then, I still had hopes of trading my NFTs. Now, I see the opportunity to offer them on the chain that is most favorable to those interested. In the end, the scammers will block you as if you were still in the wrong!
Why Does It Matter?
Because at the end of the day, your art, your work, and your money are valuable. Don’t let scammers take that away from you. Safety starts with small habits and ends with your confidence in what you’re doing.
Next, we will create a practical guide for those who want to enter the NFT universe. If you are already a member, click here to see the art available on my website, under the NFTS tab.
