Ethereum in turmoil: risk of freefall and internal "civil war"

Ethereum, the main smart contract network, is facing one of the worst crises in its history. Since January 2021, transaction volume has plummeted 84%, and the ETH/BTC pair has reached lows not seen in four years, according to analyst Percival.

In addition, disagreements within the community are intensifying. On the one hand, the Ethereum Foundation and Vitalik Buterin advocate gradual evolution. On the other, critics point out flaws in governance and in the ability to compete with other emerging networks.

With the price weakened, the risk of "freefall" is real. Meanwhile, Bitcoin continues to show strength, signaling a possible resumption of the rise.
