Trump has appointed Mark Ujeda, a Republican member of the SEC, as acting chairman of the agency
Ujeda replaces Gary Gensler, the former SEC chairman whose agenda has put him on a collision course with Wall Street and the crypto industry
He will lead the regulator until June 5, 2026, when Gensler will officially step down and crypto lawyer Paul Atkins, who has been named permanent head, will take over. Until then, Atkins will also serve in a lower-level role at the SEC
