Singapore has blocked access to Polymarket, a cryptocurrency-based prediction market, as part of a crackdown on unlicensed gambling platforms.
On January 12, users in Singapore accessing Polymarket will receive a warning from the Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA), reminding them that this platform is not licensed to operate under Section 20 of the Gambling Control Act 2022.
The warning states:
"You have attempted to access an illegal gambling website. Singapore Pools is the only licensed online gambling operator in Singapore."
Violating behavior may be fined 10,000 SGD, with a maximum prison sentence of 6 months, or both. This move shows Singapore's determination to tighten control over unauthorized gambling activities to protect consumers and ensure legal compliance.
