Buffett often mentions a fable: a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
'A bird in the hand' represents the resources and results that one already possesses and firmly holds, with a probability of occurrence of 100%. This is certain, without any uncertainty, and is an established benefit. In contrast, 'two birds in the bush' signifies the expected phase of returns, where the likelihood of actually capturing those two birds is filled with variables, and it is very likely that due to unforeseen circumstances, they will not be caught. Therefore, the probability of the 'two birds' may be very low.
Buffett is a player with high certainty; the greater the grasp, the heavier the bet. In Munger's words, as a poker player, I know that when the probability of winning is very high, one should make a heavy bet. Thus, the bird in hand is far more important than the birds in the bush.
