👏 YOUNG TALENT: The youngest contributor to Bitcoin Core receives the Bitcoin scholarship from Chaincode Labs
Ishaana Misra, a 17-year-old girl from New York, has made history as the youngest contributor to the core code of Bitcoin in the past 15 years. She was awarded the first Bitcoin scholarship from Chaincode Labs, surpassing 232 global applicants. The scholarship will cover her tuition for one year, with the possibility of annual renewal to support her university program.
Starting programming at the age of 12, Misra ventured into the field of Bitcoin after reading the Bitcoin white paper before entering high school. With a self-taught spirit, she has mastered the C++ language and transitioned from running Bitcoin nodes to contributing to the Bitcoin Core codebase.
Misra shares that the Bitcoin community focuses on the quality of work, not age, creating opportunities for young developers.
Adam Jonas, CEO of Chaincode Labs, stated that the goal of the scholarship is to encourage young talent to engage in open-source Bitcoin development, providing experience and educational support.
Misra is proof that innovation and contributions are not limited by age in the tech world.
