Billionaire Musk (Elon Musk) re-followed Binance founder and former Chinese richest man Zhao Changpeng (CZ) on Twitter, symbolizing a major reconciliation between the two. Zhao mentioned that Binance had invested $500 million to support the acquisition of Twitter, and Musk expressed his gratitude.
After Musk replied to Zhao Changpeng's post, he followed Zhao's Twitter account again. On Saturday (December 14), Zhao posted that he was pleased to contribute to the acquisition of Twitter and shared news about Binance investing $500 million in Musk's Twitter acquisition deal.
Musk wrote: "Thank you!"
Zhao Changpeng then responded with a handshake emoji.
Looking back at 2022, after Musk completed the $44 billion acquisition of Twitter, Zhao Changpeng accepted an interview with U.S. CNBC and expressed a desire to help bring Web3 elements to Twitter. At that time, he proposed six major reasons to assist the Twitter acquisition:
1. Supporting free speech, describing Twitter as the global Townsquare. Regardless of background, the platform provides users with a voice; regardless of short-term stock price fluctuations or market conditions, free speech is a prerequisite for financial freedom.
2. Supporting entrepreneurs, Musk is a powerful entrepreneur, and believes that under his leadership, Twitter will continue to develop and become an influential platform for everyone;
3. Believing that Twitter has enormous untapped value, Twitter still lacks a suitable business model, and Musk along with cryptocurrency technology can innovate new business models without selling user data;
4. Binance can help Twitter with Web3 integration, as Binance is the largest liquidity provider;
5. Zhao Changpeng frequently uses Twitter; as the saying goes, invest in the products you use;
6. Binance wants to help solve problems, and Zhao Changpeng's wish is to iterate Twitter’s products, including eliminating bots, adding an edit button, paying for blue check verification, and paying for comments on posts.
It is worth noting that the relationship between Musk and Zhao Changpeng had previously undergone subtle changes. After the acquisition was completed, Musk invited the eToro trading platform to settle on Twitter as a subsequent cryptocurrency trading partner, instead of Binance.
Moreover, Zhao Changpeng had previously assisted in funding during Musk's acquisition of Twitter. The crypto community explained that Musk's move left Zhao feeling cold, creating a rift in their relationship, which led Zhao to unfollow Musk.
In November, Zhao Changpeng unfollowed Musk again, which seemed to further confirm the gap between them. However, looking back at past interactions, it may be discovered that what Zhao truly values is not merely tight commercial cooperation, but perhaps a simple thank you from Musk, affirming both parties' vision and mutual appreciation.
For Zhao Changpeng, establishing a spiritual connection with like-minded industry leaders is far more valuable than mere profit relationships.
Now, Musk has re-followed Zhao Changpeng, and their recent renewed interaction may signify a new beginning.
