French company unveils first Web3 laptop with cold wallet
Metavisio Unveils World's First Web3 Laptop Concept With Built-In Cold Cryptocurrency Wallet
Metavisio's new product is a regular laptop, but it also includes features specifically designed for digital asset users.
The Web3 laptop from Metavisio will feature a built-in cold wallet for cryptocurrency storage. Such wallets are considered more secure compared to hot wallets, as they store private keys offline. This eliminates the risks of hacking attacks.
The wallet will support Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) networks, Bitcoin, Ripple, and Bittensor. In the future, developers will expand the list of available blockchains.
The laptop will also be equipped with a secure enclave security chip. The same one is used to protect data in Apple devices.
Metavisio will release three versions of the laptop, targeting different user segments. The first model will be aimed at educational purposes, the second for gamers, and the third for everyday use.
"The Web3 laptop is designed for a future where you will truly own your digital experience. By combining Web3 tools, we are laying the foundation for empowering the next billion users," noted Metavisio founder and CEO Stéphane France in a comment to Decrypt.
The expected price ranges from €499 (about $523) for the base model to €2,000 (about $2,100) for more advanced options.
The exact technical specifications of the Web3 laptop have not yet been disclosed. The release date is also not determined yet. However, Metavisio plans to complete the development of the operating system and begin releasing prototypes in the first quarter of 2025.
