Qatar recently introduced a comprehensive legal framework for digital assets. The framework was designed and implemented by the Qatar Financial Center (QFC) and relevant authorities and includes provisions for the creation and supervision of digital assets, including tokenization, legal recognition of ownership rights in tokens and related assets, and arrangements for their transfer and exchange. . Also, this framework includes the legal identification of smart contracts.
The main objective of this framework is to create a secure and transparent ecosystem for digital assets that operates in accordance with international standards and best practices. Also, this framework has been developed with the cooperation of a group of 37 domestic and international organizations and is part of the third financial strategy of Qatar and the national development goals of Qatar 2030, which seeks digital transformation in this country.
