According to Onchain data, a large institutional crypto whale has made a new Bitcoin transaction. An address associated with Cumberland DRW transferred 650.93 BTC worth approximately $41.96 million to Coinbase. This transaction was made at a time when Bitcoin’s market price was at its peak.
The amount of BTC in question had been dormant for three years prior to the transfer. On-chain analysis shows that these funds were first obtained from multiple DRW addresses six years ago at an average price of approximately $4,000 per Bitcoin. Compared to Bitcoin’s current price of $64,463, this transaction could generate a profit of approximately $39.35 million, or approximately 15 times the investment.
Cumberland is a subsidiary of high-frequency trading firm DRW and was noted earlier this year as one of the trading firms selected for Fidelity Investments’ spot Bitcoin ETF launch.
