"Interview Date: September 19, 2023"
1. You can briefly introduce yourself
Hello everyone, I am Jiuer. X Influencer, former Hootdlabs consultant, serves as ambassador in projects such as SimSportsClub, AIRein NFT, MoonTouch, etc., mainly to help projects grow. X has 70,000+ fans, sharing and mining early GameFi project, NFT and other project information in his personal account.
2. Can you share your opportunity to join the circle?
Before I joined the industry, I was a product manager on the Internet. I like to study all kinds of things. I also made some apps and public accounts, and established some communities.
I started to get involved in the crypto space because a colleague mentioned that his relative made a lot of money with Bitcoin. Then I saw a news report about Bitcoin, which sparked my interest. I downloaded Huobi and bought some Bitcoin directly with RMB. Then I saw its price rising day by day, up to 20% every day. This is a very large increase for me who usually invests in stocks and funds. This made me full of interest in the crypto space. Due to my "gambler mentality", I started to participate in contract trading. I initially made some profits and started to trade frequently. But then one day I mistakenly opened a reverse contract and ended up blowing up my position. This experience made me more cautious.
Later, I met a person named Akun who had many followers on Twitter. Then I was invited to work with him on community management. 33 was very popular at the time, and as long as you could obtain the whitelist qualification for the project, you could basically easily make considerable profits.
In 2021, I couldn’t manage too many communities by myself, so I changed direction and started playing NFT with people in the overseas market, mainly to get the NFT whitelist. Since I know a lot of people, I can get some resources that others can’t get.
Later, I further cooperated with some overseas investors. I was invited to serve as CM in overseas community projects, especially to help overseas NFT projects cooperate and manage. My main task is to cooperate with other projects to help them expand their business and achieve user growth. I am involved in the community management of up to 13 projects at the same time, which keeps me very busy. Moreover, due to the time difference, I need to communicate with the overseas team late at night, and I can only go to bed at 4 to 5 o'clock every day.
In this process, I gradually accumulated a lot of overseas resources and established cooperative relationships with some large-scale community projects. When domestic projects hope to enter overseas markets, they often do not have sufficient channels to interact with or understand the overseas community. So many project parties will find me to help them grow the number of users overseas.
Core content: I used to be an Internet product manager. I entered the crypto field because I heard about the success story of Bitcoin. Then I bought Bitcoin and it rose quite a lot. After that, I participated in community management and helped projects to obtain whitelist qualifications. I also cooperated in overseas market management and managed communities for up to 13 projects at the same time. I have accumulated rich overseas resources and experience to help domestic projects enter overseas markets.
3. Can you tell us about what you are doing now?
I am currently working full-time on my own account, focusing on researching and sharing various projects. I also assist some projects and participate in their promotion. For example, I have assisted Hootlabs, Element, AI Rein, TENGOKU, etc. in their promotion. Because I know a lot of project owners and KOLs, I also do some docking work between project owners and KOLs.
Core content: I am now engaged in the operation of my own account full-time, focusing on researching and sharing various projects. I also assist in the promotion of projects and connect projects with KOLs.
4.What is your most memorable experience in Web3?
I once experienced the experience of exploding a contract, and it was really an unforgettable time. This was my first personal experience and it was really hard to sleep at. But later, I learned a more prudent investment strategy and no longer took risks to gamble.
I still remember the first time I worked on a project, it was an experience growing up with Hootlabs. At that time, I was not a professional. I was more of a community manager assisting with project docking, but I began to slowly study the market and project growth. Later, because of my experience and knowledge, other projects also approached me, hoping that I could assist them in achieving success in project growth. This experience is very unforgettable and very meaningful to me.
Core content: I once experienced a liquidated contract experience. It was an unforgettable experience, but it taught me a more cautious investment strategy. I still remember the first time I participated in a project and grew up with Hootlabs. Although I was not professional at the time, I gradually accumulated experience and knowledge by studying the market and projects. This experience has led to other listed companies approaching me to help them achieve success in project growth. This experience was very meaningful to me.
5. Can you share the skills or areas that you think you are good at?
I am good at user growth of projects and in-depth research on market trends. I connect projects by understanding the interests of institutional investors and exchanges and communicating with them. In particular, traditional web2 company project parties are in great need of such help.
The second is to discover new projects with potential. In the GameFi track, I have done a lot of research and discovered many early projects. Because I started research relatively early, and later because I have many overseas bigwigs following me on Twitter, they will also pay attention to my project sharing, and then I will be discovered by some overseas investors and professionals.
Core content: I am good at researching project user growth and market trends. By understanding the interests of institutional investors and exchanges, I can carry out project docking. I am particularly good at helping traditional Web2 company projects. In addition, I am also actively exploring potential early projects in the GameFi field. Many projects are basically discovered by me for the first time, and I have also received the attention and recognition of overseas big players.
6. How do you view investment or are there any investment methods you can share?
Before I entered the cryptocurrency field, I mainly invested in funds and stocks, and researched the company’s background and other information. I'm not very good at short-term trading, preferring to adopt a long-term investment strategy. I will use part of the funds for long-term holding, just like hoarding coins, rather than frequent trading. For example, I once bought Ethereum for $4,500 and have not sold it yet, insisting on long-term holding.
Around September and October 2022, I heard some people share their strategies. Some investors with small funds participate in some activities on social media, such as participating in specific Space activities, and receive USDT rewards by asking questions. The market was better at the time, and they would earn an additional three to five thousand dollars a month. This opportunity may have been relatively profitable at the time, but over time, market conditions may change, so the situation may be different now.
In addition, I learned that some people will work for the project for free. They may not receive direct wages, but will receive rewards after the project is successful. This is called zero-cost, which is also a way to make a profit for people with smaller funds.
Core content: Before, I mainly invested in long-term funds and stocks. I am not good at short-term trading and prefer to hold assets for the long term. Share the strategies of small-capital investors, and you can earn USDT rewards by participating in social media activities, or work for the project side for free, and you can receive rewards in the future.
7. Do you have anything to share about current hot topics?
I recently played Friendtech, and I am more optimistic about SocialFi. I think SocialFi is undergoing a lot of changes. Previously, it may have focused more on quick transactions and short-term gains, similar to speculative operations of quick in and out. However, the trend may be moving in a different direction now.
Moreover, I have discussed with some project owners, exchanges, and institutions, and they said that they are not optimistic about pure Web3 projects at present, and prefer Web2 projects that have established a user base and can connect and attract more users. Such projects will arouse their interest.
I also think areas such as SocialFi and GameFi have long-term potential, and many public companies have also entered these areas and are committed to long-term construction. Therefore, I am optimistic about these areas and believe that future development will be more focused on long-term sustainability rather than short-term quick profits.
Core content: I am very confident about the SocialFi field recently because it is undergoing major changes. Project parties, exchanges and institutions are also more inclined to connect with Web2 projects, which have established a user base and can attract more users. Therefore, I am optimistic about the long-term potential of the SocialFi and GameFi fields, and many listed companies are also investing resources in these fields for long-term construction. Future development will focus more on sustainability rather than short-term profits.
8. Do you have anything you would like to share?
A lot of people have been pessimistic about Web3 lately, but I think the Web3 space is still filled with huge opportunities. This is a fast-growing, innovative industry with huge potential. The key is to stick to the areas you are interested in and continue to learn and output. As long as you have enough enthusiasm and persistence, you can still find opportunities in this field.
In addition, whether you are investing in the Web3 field, you must treat it with caution. Don't blindly borrow money or pursue short-term profits, let alone go for a spin. Instead, you must have a clear investment strategy and risk management plan to ensure your financial security.
Bottom Line: Despite some negativity in the Web3 space, I think there is huge opportunity. If you stick to your interests, keep learning and contributing, you will find opportunities in this field. At the same time, be cautious in investing, establish clear strategies and risk management, and do not use leverage or stud to ensure financial security.
