The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) warned that two hacker groups of North Korean origin recently moved more than 1,500 bitcoins (BTC) from several carried out robberies, and they intend to liquidate them for more than USD 40 million.

In a press release published on Tuesday, August 22 on its official website, the FBI noted that in recent hours they tracked financial movements of two hacker groups from North Korea, known as Lazarus Group and APT38.

According to the FBI, these hackers moved approximately 1,580 bitcoins to about six different wallet addresses, all already identified by the investigation bureau. These BTCs come from various cryptocurrency thefts that occurred in recent months, the office clarifies.

For the FBI, there are indications that these hacking groups, representing North Korea, are trying to liquidate the stolen bitcoins for more than USD 40 million.

If this BTC liquidation takes place, the price of the first cryptocurrency could be affected, considering that the price of the asset is based on supply and demand.

When there is a large sale of BTC, the available supply of the asset in the market increases, driving the price down as there is more BTC to purchase, but demand remains constant.
