Satoshi Nakamoto may soon be forced to reveal himself… because of quantum computers?
Satoshi has been quietly sitting on roughly 1.1 million BTC currently worth around 70 billion USD since 2009. For over 15 years, not a single satoshi has ever moved from those wallets.
Google just dropped a shocking research paper claiming that a powerful enough quantum computer could crack a Bitcoin wallet in just 9 minutes.
That leaves Satoshi with only two options:
Either step out of the shadows and move the coins to safety,
or sit back and watch 70 billion dollars vanish in an instant.
And that’s not even the full story.
An estimated 1.72 million BTC are currently locked forever in lost wallets keys forgotten, owners passed away, or simply abandoned.
If Bitcoin upgrades to a quantum-resistant protocol, those old wallets won’t be able to migrate their coins to new secure addresses. They’ll become prime targets for quantum hackers.
Even Tether’s CEO was brutally honest about it:
Coins in lost wallets will eventually get hacked and returned to circulation. The market will simply absorb them.
